Getting Involved

The AVS Parent and Family Group (PFG) supports AVS through teacher appreciation activities, volunteer shifts, and the occasional fundraiser. There is no signup process for joining the PFG, and there are no dues – if you have a kid at AVS, you’re automatically a member!

AVS suggests that every parent volunteer with our school community in some way. Volunteering is a great way to get to know other families as well as to get a sense for what’s going on at school. Here are some of the main areas where you can lend a hand:

School events

Bring the magic to life! Help organize child-centered events like the Fall Harvest Festival and Book Week—or sign up to lend a hand on the day of the event.

Camping

Love the outdoors? Join the Camping Committee and help plan unforgettable adventures for our community.

Adancement

Play a key role in our community’s success—help us reach our fundraising goals as a Class Captain for the Annual Fund, or by lending your voice to the Alumni Engagement Committee.

Campus beautification

Roll up your sleeves and pitch in! Help with hands-on projects like construction, painting, reorganizing, and caring for our garden.

Community Service

Make a difference close to home—pitch or join a project that gives back to our Bay Area community.

Admissions

Share your Aviator spirit! Welcome prospective families as an AVS Ambassador, or sign up as a Buddy Family to help new families feel right at home in our community.

Parent socials

Bring parents together! Help plan joyful gatherings like our Annual Community Celebration in the spring, or support smaller grade-level events that build lasting connections.

Teacher appreciation

Celebrate and support our amazing teachers! Sign up to be a Room Parent, sprinkle a little magic as a Library Fairy, or spread joy as a Teacher Appreciation Elf.

Other ways to get involved

Join the AVS Board of Trustees or join a Board committee like Site or Development. The Board provides long-term strategic planning and oversight for the school.
