Tuition at AVS

Clarity offers a streamlined, mobile friendly application that can be completed in as short a time as 20 minutes. Additionally, Clarity removes the need to upload your W2 and 1040 by transferring them directly from the IRS. This reduces the amount of information that you will need to enter manually and makes it possible to complete the application quickly and efficiently. You can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge.

Alta Vista School takes the privacy and security of your personal information very seriously. Clarity is certified for both GDPR and SOC2 and uses enterprise-level security standards including end-to-end encryption of all personally identifiable information. Please apply by the deadline! Admissions decisions and tuition assistance awards are made separately, but tuition assistance award letters are received with admissions decisions. Tuition Assistance applications are due by January 31st. If you miss the deadline, we will consider applications but additional funds may be limited or unavailable. 

AVS families have a wide range of incomes, assets, and individual circumstances(supporting relatives, multiple children in tuition-charging schools, medical expenses, single incomes, or having experienced a recent job loss). Each situation is complex and unique. 

Clarity application will consider the following factors when calculating your expected family contribution: number of people in your household, family income, assets such as savings, retirement accounts, stock investments, and real estate; monthly expenses including rent or mortgage payments and other financial obligations. AVS also takes into consideration the cost of living in the San Francisco Bay Area. 

We expect that families are making education a top priority in their financial decision and that all parent/guardians will contribute to tuition.

No. Alta Vista School requires families who receive tuition assistance to submit a Clarity application each year in order to qualify for financial aid; however, Clarity retains your information from previous applications, streamlining future applications. 

While tuition adjustments are made for one year at a time, in general, if a family’s financial circumstances have not changed from year to year, then the rate of tuition assistance should remain consistent and approximately the same percentage of the total annual tuition for that year.

If your circumstances change after you submit your application or at any point during the school year, please contact the Admissions Office and we will work with you to submit your new information. The AVS Tuition Assistance Committee will review the new information, and awards will be based on your demonstrated need and our available resources.
