Student Support Services
Our Student Support Services team is dedicated to fostering the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student. Comprising a math specialist, literacy specialist, two counselors, and two learning specialists, this team collaborates closely with families, teachers, and staff to support every child’s unique development.
We understand that students thrive with diverse learning styles and at varying paces. Our support team offers targeted assistance across core academic subjects as well as essential skills like social understanding, communication, organization, and self-regulation. When a student needs additional support, our team works proactively with families and teachers to address these needs through personalized interventions and strategies within and beyond the classroom.
To provide the most comprehensive care, our team maintains partnerships with professionals in related fields and offers guidance and referrals when needed. By combining resources and expertise, we are committed to helping students stay engaged, empowered, and enthusiastic about learning.
Math Coach:
The Math Coach at Alta Vista School supports teachers and students by enhancing the instructional approach to mathematics. This role involves collaborating with educators to design and implement effective math curricula, conducting professional development, and providing targeted support to students to strengthen their mathematical understanding and skills.
Literacy Specialist:
The Literacy Specialist focuses on fostering reading and writing skills across grade levels at the Lower School. This role includes assessing student literacy levels, implementing evidence-based interventions, and guiding teachers on best practices to support student literacy development. The specialist works closely with students needing additional support to improve their literacy skills and promote a love for reading and writing.
Learning Specialist:
The Learning Specialists at Alta Vista School provide personalized academic support to students with diverse learning needs. This role involves developing individualized learning plans, coordinating with teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional methods, and working with families to create a cohesive support system that ensures each student's academic progress and success.
School Counselor:
The Counselors play a key role in supporting the emotional and social well-being of students at Alta Vista School. This role includes providing individual and group counseling, developing social-emotional learning programs, and collaborating with teachers and parents to address student needs. The counselors foster a safe and inclusive environment where students feel supported and are empowered to navigate challenges and build resilience.
