Opportunity starting August 2025. Alta Vista seeks a dynamic Middle School Math Teacher.

Salary Range: $76,000 - $112,000

The Position: Middle School Math Teacher

  • Design and teach math classes to middle school students, including 7th and 8th grade math electives
  • Lead an after-school club one day a week
  • Provide 1:1 math support to students as needed
  • Serve as a co-advisor to a group of middle school students
  • Work collaboratively with middle school colleagues
  • Collaborate and meet regularly with the Math Coach
  • Participate in field trips and an annual grade-level trip.
  • Maintain a vibrant, inclusive, student-centered, active classroom environment.
  • Participate in all school activities, faculty meetings, committees, and parent conferences during and after school hours as may be necessary.
  • Maintain a growth mindset and actively participate in faculty professional development and supervision, including observations and feedback conversations in order to continuously improve one’s practice.
  • Commit to anti-racist and inclusive practices that support students of all backgrounds to succeed.
  • Evaluate and give feedback on student progress regularly using standards-based assessment tools. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree; Master’s degree preferred 
  • A comprehensive understanding of the field of math education and a demonstrated willingness to explore and embrace new pedagogical practices, technologies, and developing trends.
  • Experience teaching math at the middle school and/or secondary school level preferred.
