Biography

Alisa Soriano joined Alta Vista School in 2026 as the Head of Lower School. With two decades of experience across public and private education in New York City, including 13 foundational years in the classroom before stepping into school leadership, she specializes in inquiry-driven instruction, curriculum development, and equity-focused leadership.

Alisa believes that the best learning happens when rigor meets wonder. As Head of Lower School, Alisa is passionate about empowering teachers, engaging families, and supporting young learners as they build the critical thinking skills needed to chart their own paths. She was drawn to AVS by its vibrant, inclusive community, strong academic vision, and shared commitment to a culture where academic excellence and student well-being go hand in hand

A native New Yorker who relocated to San Francisco, Alisa can often be found tending to her 100+ houseplants, working on new cross-stitch designs, or hunting for her next favorite pastime—some of her past hobbies have included pottery, baking, and simply lying down on the beach.
