Biography

Saya is the proud Head of School at the Drew School in San Francisco. She
previously served as the school/s Assistant Head of School for Academics (2022-
2024). A Stanford University graduate with a degree in international relations and
a credential from SF State. Saya's career in education spans two decades,
inspired by a longstanding family tradition of teaching and learning.

Prior to her arrival at Drew, Saya was a teacher and administrator at the Head
Royce school in Oakland for 20 years. She served as Upper School Assistant
Division Head, Interim Upper School Division Head, and Director of Global
Education. A strong proponent of progressive and experiential learning, Saya co-
founded the Institute for Applied Learning at Head Royce and served as a
founding Board Member and Secretary for the Global Education Benchmark
Group. She was recognized for her work as an English and History teacher,
earning the Chao Family Chair Award for Distinguished Teaching and the Grannie
J. Fellowship Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Saya makes her home in San Francisco with her husband, Paul, their two
daughters who are currently in college, and their cavapoo, Lincoln. In her spare
time, you’ll find Saya out exploring the city or curled up at home with a novel in
hand.
