Biography

Danny is a music educator whose work is deeply rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and the sheer joy of collective play. Trained as a composer, he strives to find ways for his students to harness their musical creativity to build meaningful experiences for their own personal expression as well as their community. Games, movement, puzzle-solving, musical inventions, improvisation, design thinking, sonic meditations, and happy accidents all make frequent appearances in his classroom. He is thrilled to be a part of Alta Vista’s inspiring and innovative vision for a more creative future.

Since moving to the Bay Area in 2011, he has worked with youth and professional arts organizations alike on projects that combine music composition with educational initiatives and curriculum design. Recent collaborators include the Kennedy Center, the San Francisco Girls Chorus, Kronos Quartet, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, the People’s Music School of Chicago, 826 Valencia, and MyCincinnati Youth Orchestra, among others. In his spare time he likes to design and code video games, make zines, sew, and enjoy quality time with his wife and son.
