Prior to joining Alta Vista School, Summer taught Transitional Kindergarten at Moldovan Academy. Summer has been in the field of Early Childhood Education for almost two decades and has a variety of experiences teaching blended curricula and working with many wonderful early childhood philosophies such as Montessori, Reggio Emilia, High Scope, and Vygotsky's theory on scaffolding. Summer’s goals are to help guide children into discovery and curiosity while promoting their social-emotional intelligence and creating a collective classroom culture of kindness. Summer is a passionate educator who enjoys using art to promote the enjoyment of learning. Gearing, her teaching style incorporates art as a modality to inspire a love of math, science, and literacy. In her spare time, she enjoys working out and taking Les Mills fitness classes, spending time with her bird, Midnight, and traveling the world.
