Biography
Katie came to AVS in 2015 to teach Junior Kindergarten. Since then, she has taught JK through 1st grade and is now the current reading support specialist. Before teaching at the Alta Vista School, Katie taught 6th-grade humanities in East Harlem, an elementary school in Seoul, South Korea, and preschool through second grade in progressive classrooms in New York City.
Katie is dedicated to promoting academic performance and fostering social-emotional skills and character development. Katie grew up in Lake Tahoe, California where she still spends many weekends on the slopes. When Katie is not in the classroom, she enjoys skiing, hiking, reading, traveling, and searching for the city's best donuts.
