Biography
While pursuing a bachelor's degree in biology, Lara taught hands-on science lessons at nearby elementary schools. She also worked in a neuroscience research lab focused on learning at the molecular level. In an effort to blend her passions, Lara began her teaching career as a Teach for America corps member in Charlotte, NC. There she taught seventh and eighth grade science. Later, she moved to San Francisco to work at Galileo innovation summer camps.
Lara joined the Alta Vista team in 2017, and after earning her master's degree in education, began her role as the fourth grade science teacher. Lara is grateful to work at a school that encourages curiosity and never-ending learning. Her educational philosophy is centered around educating the whole child and believes that student success is created through meaningful relationships. Lara is determined to prepare her students to become creative, compassionate, and globally-minded citizens. In her spare time, Lara enjoys being outdoors and hiking in the California wilderness.
